About Leslie

Hi! I’m Leslie. I was born and raised in Las Vegas. I’ve been residing in Portland, OR for the last 7 years. I’ve put more miles on my bike then on my car. I frequent the farmers markets. I recycle and compost. I try to be as sustainable as I can. I guess living in Oregon has made me SUPER GREEN!! I started running and doing triathlons. Some friends call me Cupcake. I’ve decided to start a blog to talk about all my favorite things in LIFE: rUNNING, tRIATHLONS, AND dESSERTS.
I’ve always been active. I was on vacation in April 2006 and I started running because there was not a gym in the hotel I was staying at. I didn’t learn about the walk/run concept until I was knee deep in running 4, 5, 6 miles. My knees hurt for the first couple weeks and then that went away. I have been addicted ever since. I started out doing half-marathons and NEVER EVER thought I would do a marathon. To tell you the truth I was a little bored and needed a new challenge. January 2008 rolled around and I joined Team In Training to compete in an olympic triathlon. Jane taught me how to swim “laps” and to swim in open water. I bought a road bike. I kept on running. I’ve been addicted ever since!! I was on a 15 mile run through Forest Park, Memorial weekend 2009, and I got “talked” into doing Ironman Canada. I barely knew what an Ironman entailed, I paid a ridiculous amount of money, signed up and finished. I have OFFICIALLY taken on the title of CRAZY! I have now done 29 half marathons, 9 marathons, 9 olympic triathlons, 10 long course/half ironman triathons, and YES 4 Ironman triathlons since 2006. I’ve done 5-15K running races and some sprint triathlons but I like the longer endurance events better.
I’ve always liked baking as well. My specialty is cakes and cookies. I like to always change it up. My friends don’t like that very much cause when I make something they like, they know I will not make it again. I do have a few favorites that I have made more than once. 🙂
I’ve been wanting to start a blog for a while now. I thought this would be the perfect time to start. The year is going to be 2013. I’ve got a lot of triathlon and running events planned for the year. One being Hood to Coast. The problem with that is, the team I got on because of Kara 2 years ago, didn’t get a slot this year. The truth comes out and the real motivation for starting the blog is to get on the NUUN HTC Team. Their only requirement for applying is you have to have a running blog.
Here goes nothing!!

You’re so inspirational! Someday I hope to have a race count as awesome as yours. Gotta have a good balance of working out and desserts 🙂
