A Change of Scenery

1 Mar

I moved into my new ‘hood exactly 1 month ago. I have not done much running over here. I have gone out with Ilana a few times. I did a short transition run with Jenny and Scott last weekend. Nothing crazy though.

My schedule called for hill repeats today. Ilana did not want to run this morning so I postponed it until this afternoon. It was going to be super nice. I debated on hitting Terwilliger but I thought there are plenty of hills over here that I can try.

When I lived with Brandy so many years ago we used to have a 10K run that we did with the “Knott” hill in the middle. It will a tough tough hill. Especially at tempo pace! I am not sure why we called it the Knott hill because the hill is actually on 33rd leading up to Fremont. I guess because we ran on 42nd to 33rd on Knott? Who knows!

It was 4:30 and it was go time. I had a loose plan to hit that hill today. I did not know how long it would take to get over there. I could not remember how long it took to get up the hill. I was just going to figure it out as I go!

I did a nice warm up. Got to 33rd and looked up at the hill. Could it have gotten steeper and longer in the last 5 years? I did my first repeat. 90 seconds. It was just as hard as I remember it. Except that I only ever had to do it once!! Today I was going to do it 5 more times. :(

I lived to tell about it! It was hard but it is only going to make me STRONGER! I proceeded to do my power strength work out when I got home. It was hard too! Lots of glute and core work. I may be feeling that in the morning.

Sheryl sent me this coupon to use today.

I did not end up using it. SAD DAY! I wanted to but I never got around to it.

Luckily enough for me…Jen was making multiple desserts tonight! Brownies and Coconut cake!!

I indulged as usual!

Anyone have an awesome run today? OR an awesome dessert today?

Your brother and I had some awesome cocktails! Does that apply? :)
