I moved to Portland March 4, 2007 @ 11:30PM. I started working at my current job on March 5, 2007 at 7:30AM. I was ready to leave Eugene and embark on a new adventure in a new city.

My first adventure was moving in with a girl that I had never met, Brandy. Her mom, Stephanie, was a friend from the gym. When I told her I was moving to Portland she said, “You have to meet my daughter Brandy”! I was going to need some friends so I said absolutely yes!
Shortly after that convo I found out that I was not going to be able to move into my newly built(in the process of finishing) condo until April. I needed a place to stay for a month. I was telling Stephanie that one day at the gym and she said “maybe you can stay with Brandy?” I was in. I was going to have to sleep on the couch, but I could do that for a month!
Brandy and I talked on the phone for maybe 5 minutes 2 days before the move in date. I was pretty confident that it was going to work out. I knew her mom. It is not like I found a couch to sleep on, on Craigslist. It was all about the adventure.
I only stayed in Eugene through that weekend because I was celebrating Tracy’s 28th Birthday all weekend. I had to stay, she would have kicked my ass been sad because my first full day in Portland was going to be her birthday.
We lived in northeast Portland. I was moving downtown in 1 month. I actually really liked northeast and was a little afraid that I had made the wrong decision in buying downtown. She nicknamed me Larry. It just kind of came out of her mouth one night and it stuck! WE had lots of great times over on Ainsworth!
I loved northeast. After begging Brandy to live on her couch month after month because the “construction” was taking forever!! I finally got to move into my condo on June 28th. 4 months on a couch!! We still laugh about it. I began to love downtown and I was not too far from NE. I have had many adventures in the last 6 years. To make a long story longer I decided to sell my condo so I could be free from a mortgage! Who really wants one of those anyway?!?
I then moved in with my friend Greg about a ½ mile from where I lived. It was even closer to work and still downtown. Score!! Then it happened he said he was going to buy a place. Shit Yeah! I had a long discussion with myself and decided I would just move with him. To the eastside…3.1 miles AWAY from work! Shit Yes more commuting miles!
Yesterday was the day. Tracy and Mike came down from Longview to help me move. Mike busted his shoulder last week, convenient on his part, so he did more
Here is our new house last night:

The house is old but it has cute old features. I noticed yesterday that there is NO shower faucet. I guess he never checked that part of the bathroom out because when I said there is no shower faucet. He said WHAT THE F***? Needless to say I have yet to take a shower at the house yet. He may be at Home Depot working on that as we speak. HOPEFULLY!! ![]()

How exciting Leslie:) Such a pretty house! The last time I moved was in August of 2011. I like being here in Berkeley and have met great friends but I also miss Portland so much and all my friends there. Portland really does have a hold of my heart. Love your blog:)
Counting the days until you move back!!
Moving might be one of the suckiest things EVER!!! This post made me think about all of the moves I’ve made in my life (so far) and it added up to… wait for it… 14!!! Twice just this past year. Thinking I might be cursed
So happy for you to be settled in your new place. It looks awesome! xoxo. P.S. shower heads (and showers, for that matter) are overrated.
Showers are totally overrated…that is why I am not worried about it!!
Can’t wait to come visit!! So happy you are now getting settled in! Miss you!
