If you did not know I’m getting ready to move AGAIN. If you did not know I moved once. I have. Now I am moving again! I am moving out of downtown into the Northeast quadrant of P-Town. Right now I have a 3.5(ish) mile commute to work. I will double that when I move in 2 weeks.

Here is the elevation! It has always been mostly uphill but now I get to add the “Broadway” uphill. Broadway is a one way with southbound lanes. It goes uphill so there is a bike lane. It is a major thoroughfare for cyclists because of the bike lane.
I have this love/hate relationship with Broadway. I LOVE it because of the bike lane. I love it because there is always crazy cyclists, all size cyclists, all different bikes, delivery cyclists(not typically on a morning commute), slow cyclists…THE WORKS!

I HATE broadway because people ride slow. It is uphill so it is totally understandable. I just like to catch the lights. Which makes me sweat more! The lights are set to 12mph. If I get going I can cruise just about the entire way before I catch a light(at the top of the highest point). When I need a break anyway!
That is if there are no slow people, and no cars turning in front of me and making me brake!!
I had, what could possibly be, my last physical therapy appointment today. All fingers and toes crossed!! The office is over in my new hood. I decided to ride there. Then I would ride to work after to check on timing.

I found this RANDOM tooth photo with a thousand bike images. I wish it was a tooth on a bike.
Anywho…I got to work in about 40 minutes and I actually think it will be a little shorter than the PT’s office! Double the commute. Could I actually get up 20 minutes earlier then I do now?
Gotta LOVE Broadway during the morning commute. I had a guy pass me on the downhill off the Broadway Bridge. He was riding a mountain bike and NO helmet. The only reason he passed me was I was stopped at the light and fiddling with my bike computer. I quickly passed him when we started rolling uphill.
I passed multiple idiots on fixies without helmets. Cyclists coming from every which way. Come to think of it…nobody I passed had a helmet on. What is wrong with people?!

I have had a pretty boring commute just riding up Terwilliger all these years. I am looking forward to some comic relief riding up Broadway multiple times a week. We will see how long it lasts especially when it starts raining again!

It sounds like you need to be careful around the crazies on Broadway!
I am very careful!! Safety first baby!!
Love that you guys are so cycle friendly! I am always shocked when people don’t wear helmets to commute (or any time for that matter).
Cycle safe!
Abby–I love Portland for so many reasons but being able to bike all around town is one of my top reasons for living here!!
Yeah people…wear your dang helmets or else you end up in MY office, which is no good! Leslie, cant’ wait til you move to the ‘hood! Fun!
What I hate even more is when people have their helmets hanging off their handbars!
